4 Ways to use your Mascot During Covid-19

Covid-19 has made us rethink how we market. Your mascot shouldn’t just disappear. You need them now than ever to spread some cheer! Here are some tips to safely and effectively use your mascot during the pandemic.

  1. Enter the Online World

Everyone is staying in the comfort of their own home to run things remotely, so should your mascot. With our connected world, this is easily achieved. Set up a backdrop at an office or dedicated employee’s house and let the mascot work its magic. Do video skits, streams, personal online, and greets, the possibilities are endless. Also, this is the perfect time to create or amp up your mascot social media page so the character stays top of mind. Let us help. At the Character Nest, we pride ourselves in being able to think in the mind of your mascot to run an effective character page.

  1. Keep your mascot sparkling clean

It is important now than ever to practice sanitation with your mascot. Ensure that only one performer is using the mascot during Covid-19 so it can’t spread between different performers. Have them wipe the mask or any other at-risk areas with a disinfectant cloth after each use. Wash your mascot as much as possible. You can ask us how to do this yourself or we can do it for you.

  1. Train your mascot to be as respectful as possible

Mascots tend to want to jump around and give high-fives to every soul alive. The mascot performer needs to know how to perform in this current environment. Let your performer know what is acceptable and what’s not to protect both them and your guests. Most kids have adapted to the environment but a giant furry creature could put a wrench in that plan. Always have a handler to help explain the protocols to all your customers.

  1. 6 feet rule for mascots photos

Customers can still take photos with the mascots, even if they are not giving them a giant bearhug. Just tell them to stand 6 feet in front of the mascot and angle it just right for the perfect photo. There, now your guests get to keep a memory that will last forever while keeping everyone safe. You can also set up a booth for the mascot with rope 6 feet from the mascot. A perfect example of this is Disney Paris.
